the collection, “On saturday it rained”, is now on the site

I have now added the new song collection, “On Saturday It Rained”, to the site.

I wrote the song, “Southampton”, as I knew I was going to play in a ZOOM session organized by Paul Clarke, who lives in Southampton. I thought I would toady to the audience by playing a song about their home town. It turned out that very few of the attendees were from England and only Paul was from Southampton. Most didn’t know where Southampton is.

Shortly after John Prine died, I found the CD box notes he had written for Iris DeMent’s first CD, “Infamous Angel”. As I wouldn’t have the pleasure of listening to any new songs from John, I slightly edited his CD box notes and set them to music.

“The Conversation” is a Pinter-style dialogue between two friends who each talk to themselves. The opening line was written sixty years ago by the orchestral composer, Adrian Jack, who I was at school with.

Thanks for visiting my site and please stay well.

Nigel
